Ace Indian javelin throw athlete Neeraj Chopra clinched the silver medal at the Diamond League Final in Eugene on Saturday.

The 25-year-old from Kandhra came up with his best throw at the event with an 83.80 m attempt. He came in second behind Czech Jakub Vadlejch, who produced a nest on the day that came in at 84.24m.

Chopra registered a foul on his first attempt, before fighting back strongly to land his best throw on the night on his second effort.

The Indian came in ahead of Finn Oliverr Helander, who finished third with a day’s best throw of 83.74m.

Chopra has been in incredible touch ever since his gold medal-winning exploits at the Tokyo Olympics, following which he has also claimed the yellow metal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, and the World Athletics Championships, adding to his ever-increasing tally of medals.

Chopra became the first track and field athlete from India to win the World Championships title with his efforts in the Hungarian capital city of Budapest.

He followed the title-clinching performance in Hungary with a silver medal at the Zurich Diamond League games merely days after he completed the glittering gold set.
