
The Rowing event at this year’s Asia Cup will be starting from Wednesday, September 20 and will go on till September 25. The event is scheduled to take place at the Fuyang Water Sports Centre in Hangzhou, Republic of China.
India has sent a 33-member combined squad for both men’s and women’s events which also includes four substitutes. Indian rowers will compete in 11 of the 14 categories. India will, however, not be competing in women’s double scull, women’s quadruple scull and women’s single scull. India’s hopes lie in the hands of the two Olympians Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh. They will be the big names in the Indian rowing contingent. The duo will be representing India in the men’s lightweight double scull event.

China has been the dominant performer at the Rowing event as they have grasped 98 medals in the 10 editions that the sport has been part of the Asian Games. The sport first came in the 1982 Asian Games which was hosted by India in New Delhi.
