The Academic Staff Union of Universities was told to end its ongoing strike by the Nigerian National Industrial Court on Wednesday.

ASUU has been on strike since February 14 to emphasize its demands for increased financing for institutions and a review of professors’ pay, among other pending matters

Students in federal institutions had been lurking in their respective homes for over seven months amid strike.

ASUU and the Federal Government had held a number of discussions that came to a stalemate that has escalated to the industrial court.

As a result, the strike was contested in court by the Federal Government.

The government requested a judgement from the court to stop ASUU from continuing its strike while the court considered the substantive lawsuit. This request was made by the government through its attorney, James Igwe.
