The Indian table tennis and women’s football teams have taken off for Hangzhou for the Asian Games on Monday. Both the squads seemed confident ahead of the massive event.
The Women’s football team were given an enthusiastic send-off at the Indira Gandhi International Airport as they were headed for the 19th edition of the Asian Games being held in China.
“As they are set to open an incredible new chapter of their career in 🇨🇳, we wish everyone all the very best,” the Sports Authority of India (SAI) said in a tweet on Monday.
The table tennis team too was given a rousing send-off in New Delhi. Led by Commonwealth Games men’s singles gold medallist Achanta Sharad Kamal, the Indian teams will be hoping to improve on their performance in the 2018 edition of the Games.
In 2018, India won two bronze medals with the men’s team claiming third place in the Team Competition while the pair of Achanta Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra claimed bronze in the mixed doubles competition.
